A few weeks ago, my 15 year old daughter said something troubling to me.
She is a talented artist so I suggested that she start the business side of selling her art. She said, “I could never start a business because that’s something only guys do.”
We thought we were teaching her right all along, but we must have missed somewhere.
It’s time for us to show her that is not the case.
I have a wife with super human powers, a mother who at 15 years old sacrificed her youth to raise me, 3 daughters with so much promise and an amazing group of women on the CYP team.
As a way to honor these amazing women, I decided to find and support a women’s organization dedicated to the empowerment of women in business.
Women are constantly doing for others, so it is time for us to support them. It’s time to take action.
A couple of stats:
A 25 Year Old women earns $5,000.00 less annually than a 25 Year Old male.
Women make up two-thirds of low-wage workers, but just 14.6 percent of the top earning positions at Fortune 500 companies, according to Catalyst, a research organization aimed at boosting women at work.
In my travels, I ran into the CEO of the National Association of Women in the Real estate Business (NAWRB), Desirée Patno. I knew right away that we had found the right organization to support.
The NAWRB is a women’s trade association specializing in the housing economy. NAWRB is dedicated to providing women the tools and opportunities for economic growth and expansion, while advocating and promoting women-owned businesses specializing in the housing economy.
I highly recommend that if you are a woman in Real Estate that you check out this organization.
Cutyourpayroll and I certainly look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
